Veteran Labs ("we", "us", "our") builds software for students, educational institutions and businesses. We operate the website essayvet.com (the "Site"). For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, we are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

02Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, optional phone number, subject and message.
- Product waitlist: your email address, and optionally your name, role (for example student or educator) and the products you are interested in.
- Job applications: your first and last name, email address, phone number, postal address, CV/résumé, and any optional information you provide such as a portfolio link, years of experience, right-to-work status, earliest start date and a cover note.
- Writer network applications and accounts: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), area of expertise, bio, and optional profile photo, CV and social or portfolio links.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: your IP address, browser type, device information and the pages you request, recorded in standard server logs.
- Application metadata: when you submit a job application we record the IP address and time of submission to help prevent fraud and spam.
- Cookies: see section 4.
Please do not include sensitive information (such as health information, government ID numbers or financial details) in your CV, messages or other submissions. We do not ask for it and do not need it.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Every job application is reviewed by a person.
06International transfers
We operate in the United Kingdom and the United States, and our service providers may process information in other countries. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK or European Economic Area, we use appropriate safeguards such as adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses.
07How long we keep information

We may keep information longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes.
08How we protect information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access restricted to authorised staff, and uploaded CVs stored in a location that cannot be accessed publicly. No system is completely secure, so please contact us immediately if you believe your information has been compromised.
09Your rights
United Kingdom and European Economic Area
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information; to restrict or object to its processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.
United States
Depending on your state of residence (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or others), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access it, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. As stated above, we do not sell or share personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
How to exercise your rights
Email support@essayvet.com from the address associated with your information. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time required by law (usually one month in the UK/EU and 45 days in the US).
10Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Job applications and writer network accounts are only for people aged 18 or over. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our products and the law change. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
