Overview

What Origina does.

Origina compares submissions against web sources, open-access journals and your institution's own archive, then produces a clear, citation-aware report that separates properly quoted material from genuine concerns.

It also checks images and media for copyright and licence status — identifying Creative Commons terms, attribution requirements and likely rights-managed content — so students and staff can publish with confidence.

The problem

Similarity scores alone punish correctly cited work and say nothing about whether images or media can legally be reused.

Our approach

Origina understands quotations and references, explains every match and adds copyright licence intelligence for visual content — supporting fair, educational conversations rather than blunt scores.

FAQ

Questions about Origina?

Is Origina a plagiarism detector?
It includes similarity detection, but it is designed to support academic judgement with context — not to issue automatic verdicts.
How are images checked for copyright?
Origina reads embedded licence metadata, compares against open-licence registries and reverse-image indexes, and reports the likely licence and attribution requirements.
Where is our data stored?
Institutions can choose UK or US data residency. Submissions are encrypted at rest and in transit.
When can I try Origina?
Origina is currently in the in development stage, targeting Q2 2027. Join the waitlist below and we'll invite you as soon as early access opens.
